EYE HEALTH MAINTENANCE

It is important to take care of the health of your eyes. Good nutrition, sunglasses with UV protection, safety glasses when doing automotive or electrical work, eye protective wear for various sports and regular eye exams can all help you maintain the health of your eye.

Medical diseases and their medications often have related eye problems. You should be seen by your eye care professional at least once a year if you have medical problems or are on medications that can affect your eyes. Medical problems which may affect the health of your eye include diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disease, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and HIV disease.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

Plan on spending a complete hour for your first eye exam. You may get your pupils dilated (put in the open position) by drops, which might make you temporarily light sensitive with blurry vision at near range. Remember your sunglasses and consider having a designated driver or using ACTR.

Your eye exam will be individualized to your needs, finding, and history. Please bring a list of your medications with you, and be prepared to give any medical or eye history that exists for you and your family.

Bring your glasses (the most recent and preferred pair) and your latest box of contact lenses.

Please bring an up-to-date insurance card and any copay you are responsible for. We are happy to bill your insurance company, but it is ultimately your responsibility to pay your bill if their contract with you does not include paying for your exam. We are would like to accept most insurance plans but are currently not in network for some. Please contact your insurance company for clarification if needed.
